The hunt for a Colorado man wanted on multiple felony charges of sexual assault of a child came to an abrupt halt in the Vernal area on January 17th. According to the Greeley Colorado Police Department, Greeley Police were notified on January 5th of a possible case of child pornography. The investigation began and “as more information and evidence was developed, detectives obtained a search warrant for the [42-year-old] suspect’s residence and served that warrant on Wednesday afternoon [January 17th]. More evidence was located in the search of the residence and an arrest warrant was then obtained for the suspect’s arrest.” It was determined that the suspect had fled the state and police issued an alert to law enforcement to be on the lookout for the man’s arrest and that he was driving a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to Greeley Police, law enforcement officers in Utah located the suspect in the described vehicle near Vernal, Utah. “As officers contacted him and approached the vehicle, the suspect shot himself.” The suspect died from the self inflicted gunshot. He was wanted on three felony charges of Sexual Assault of a Child and two felony charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
