A missing hiker’s body was located on Sunday after several days of searching. 25-year-old Kyle S. Wimpenny was declared a missing person last week after last being seen at his Boise, Idaho home on Sunday, September 13th. Kyle had planned to backpack to Kings Peak, located in Duchesne County in the High Uintas Wilderness Area, and was expected to return home by Wednesday, September 16th. When he didn’t return, Search and Rescue were called and the search began on September 17th. On Sunday, September 20th, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office announced that just before 2:30pm, search crews located Kyle Wimpenny’s body. “It appears Kyle fell approximately 1,000 feet while attempting to summit Kings Peak.” The Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter was able to help transport the body off the mountain. Evans Family Media offers our sincere condolences to the family and friends of this young man.
