Construction on the Highway 40 widening project is well underway as crews work to widen the road to five lanes from 6250 South in Myton to Pole Line Road in Roosevelt. Road widening has continued from 6250 South to the Ioka Junction while on the south end of the project the Dry Gulch canal box culvert is nearly complete. Crews are beginning to bring in materials to start building the base for the new highway lanes. Third party utilities are in the middle of moving their lines from the Ioka Junction northward so widening activities can begin in this area. Irrigation work is nearly complete and communication lines and power poles are currently being moved. All lanes of traffic are open but some shoulders are closed as construction is taking place on both sides of the highway. Earthwork and utility relocations will continue for the next few weeks.
