Heavy Rains In Forecast Means Continued Threat Of Flooding

The weekend was a wet one throughout the region leading to flooding and increased risk of washouts. That risk continues today as showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast. National Weather Service reports that Flash Flood Watches are in effect through midnight tonight for most of eastern Utah and western Colorado. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, slot canyons, slick rock areas, low-lying flood prone areas, and in recent burn scars. All are urged to take the forecast seriously and avoid recreating in the areas with flood risk. It is also timely for homeowners to consider the potential risks of flooding to their property and prepare where possible.
