While Friday was a magical experience in downtown Vernal as over a thousand community members gathered in dinosaur costumes to attempt to break a world record, Guinness headquarters have announced that they will not be awarding the attempt with the official record. Uintah Special Service District 1 announced on Monday evening that this was due to the many complicated rules, which included needing the participants organized into sections of exactly 100 dinosaurs who couldn’t leave or take off their costumes. “Considering it was hot, the costumes were huge, and you all gave it your best, we couldn’t be prouder,” shared the announcement. “Here’s What Records Vernal DID Break This Weekend: the Most Dinosaurs Ever on Main Street in Dinosaurland (1,000+); the Biggest Dino Dash in Town History (500+); and the Largest Hot Air Balloon Launch Vernal Has Ever Seen (40+).” Uintah Special Service District 1 thanked everyone who participated and encouraged all to keep the dinosaur costumes as another attempt at the record is considered. So the question becomes, would you want to try again next year?
