The Burbot Bash, held on Flaming Gorge Reservoir over the weekend, was a success. There were 321 teams that caught a total of about 2,700 burbot during the event. $50,000 dollars in cash and prizes were given away. The team winners for Most Burbot caught were Mack Attack with 182, Kings of Ling with 169, and Two Jigs That Are Pink with 86. Winners for Biggest Burbot caught were Jeremy Holtby with 33.8 inches, Nathan Gledhill with 33.2 inches, and Josh Pitts with 31.3 inches. Winners for Smallest Burbot caught were Damien Taylor with 4.2 inches, Don Allphin with 8.5 inches, and Keltin Sheffield with 8.65 inches. Burbot are an invasive species having a devastating effect on the Flaming Gorge fishery and the Burbot Bash aims to make a dent in the burbot population each year.
