Great Utah ShakeOut Approaching

The state of Utah has had a reminder that it is prone to some serious seismic activity and Uintah County Human Resources is reminding the public of an annual event that can help prepare for the unexpected. The Great Utah ShakeOut will be
Thursday, April 18th
, and all are welcome to join Uintah County employees and people throughout Utah
at 10:15am
by practicing earthquake safety wherever you may be. It is agreed among Federal, State, and local emergency management experts, as well as other official preparedness organizations, that in most situations the best action is to Drop, Cover, and Hold On. These actions reduce chances for injury. Wherever you are at, drop on your hands and knees. This will protect you from being knocked over and position you to crawl to shelter if necessary. Find shelter, like a sturdy table or desk, while using one of your hands to cover your head and neck. If there is no shelter, be sure to get next to an interior wall and stay on your knees, bending over to protect vital organs. Finally, be sure to stay still until the shaking stops.
