Utah Governor Gary Herbert issued a call for kindness leading up to September 11th along with his announcement that flags should be lowered throughout the state. “September 11th, 2001 was one of the darkest days in the history of this country,” says Governor Herbert. “Many innocent lives were lost and countless others were forever changed, yet an unprecedented spirit of service emerged and brought with it great healing for our nation.” Governor Herbert continued with a “request that all Utahns seek to perform acts of kindness as a mark of respect and remembrance. We also extend our deep appreciation to the service members who continue to defend our freedoms and fight terrorism at home and abroad.”
