Give’m Health: Teen Dating Violence Awareness

by | Feb 22, 2023 | News | 0 comments

Statistics of teen dating violence are high across the nation and unfortunately, local statistics go along with the trend. Ashley Linschoten with TriCounty Health Department visited the Evans Family Media studios this week to spread awareness. Locally, teen dating violence is a big problem with 30 percent of Uintah Basin teens experiencing some kind of abuse during their teen years and about 8 to 10 percent experiencing physical and sexual abuse in teen dating life. Watch for red flags in your teens’ relationships, including becoming more isolated and getting really serious very quickly. Also, any unexplained injuries and your teen no longer interested in their normal interests and hobbies. Keep open communication and talk to your teen about healthy relationships and what is and what is not healthy. Resources are available through the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition. Their 24/7 hotline is 800-799-7233. You can also visit www.tricountyhealth.com to connect with resources.
