TriCounty Health Department’s participation in the BeWise program is helping local women improve health and prevent cancer. As part of Utah’s Cancer Control Program (UCCP), the BeWise Program provides women ages 40 to 64 with health screenings, knowledge, skills, and opportunities to improve their diet, physical activity, and other life habits to prevent, delay or control diseases such as cancer. According to TriCounty Health Nursing Director Nicole Smith, this lifestyle intervention program offers free mammograms as well as cervical exams and pap smears, among other screenings. “This program is always open and ready for women [in the Basin] who qualify,” explains Smith. “As long as you fit in the income bracket, you will qualify.” Visit
