It’s widely accepted that whenever possible, breastfeeding is the best nutritional option for babies but what about for moms? TriCounty Nursing Director Nicole Smith tackled this topic for this week’s Give Em’ Health segment from the local health department. It’s breastfeeding awareness month and TriCounty Health is on board promoting the cause. “Everyone has heard the multitude of reasons [breastfeeding is good] for the baby,” shares Smith, “but I think what some people are not aware of is the benefits for the mom.” These benefits include reduced risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer, lower blood pressure, and not to mention it provides a boost to help moms lose pregnancy weight in a healthy way. Smith also emphasizes that according to a study published in the journal
