While it may only make a small dent in a missing paycheck, efforts are being made locally to help furloughed federal employees during the government shutdown. Local school districts have announced that households of furloughed federal employees may apply for temporary free or reduced school meal benefits for their children. Those in Uintah School District can call

435-781-3185

and those in Duchesne School District can call

435-738-1245

. Local businesses have also announced gestures to hopefully help a little. As one example, 4 Brothers Pizza took to facebook in a heartwarming post, offering goods to help families of furloughed federal employees. While it remains unclear how long the government shutdown will remain in effect, it is obvious that kind gestures big and small can make a difference.
