Funding has been approved for improving boater access in the state and most of the projects to benefit are in northeastern Utah. The Division of Wildlife Resources announced this week that through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program, approximately $1.5 million in funding was made available for 10 new boating access improvement projects planned for 2026. The projects include installation of a courtesy dock at Pelican Lake, ramp improvements at the Lucerne Ramp on Flaming Gorge Reservoir, and ramp improvements at the Chicken Creek East Ramp at Strawberry Reservoir. Also at Strawberry Reservoir there will be a replacement of the breakwater at the marina and installation of a courtesy dock and parking improvements at the Renegade Ramp. “Our lakes and reservoirs offer precious opportunities for families and visitors to connect with and recreate on the water,” shares Ty Hunter, Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation Boating Program Manager. “By investing in these grants, we are proactively keeping our boating infrastructure sustainable for growing demand by directly improving access, safety and responsible stewardship for future generations of boaters.” Visit recreation.utah.gov to learn more about Boating Access Grants.
