Full Circle Moment For Rotary Club Bilirubin Blanket Project

From the annual coat drive to Santa’s Community Effort, the Rotary Club of Vernal engages in many great causes to benefit the community. One of the 2022 projects has come full circle as one of the Rotary’s own has been a thankful recipient. In the spring of this year, the Rotary Club presented the local healthcare community with a donation of $7,800 dollars to purchase biliblankets to treat neonatal jaundice in newborns as a free-of-charge option for local families with a newborn needing treatment. Compared to standard forms of phototherapy, a biliblanket utilizes a fiberoptic system, making it possible for babies to be treated with blue light therapy at home. The biliblankets have helped many local families since being made available last spring, including the family of Rotarian Krystle Ruppe who expressed her gratitude on social media that she was able to bring her baby home with a biliblanket saving her family time and money and best of all, the ability to hold her baby during treatments.
