A USU-Uintah Basin professor is heading south to share his wealth of knowledge. Dr. Alan Blackstock is the first USU Regional Campus faculty member to be named a Fulbright scholar and now has the opportunity to teach in Ecuador for a semester at the University of Cuenca. Dr. Blackstock has taught and trained English teachers around the world. “Certainly each culture and setting presents its own unique challenges,” shares Dr. Blackstock. “But the essential skills required for quality education are the same no matter the cultural setting. I welcome the opportunity to assist in encouraging student-centered learning, as well as providing assistance in curriculum development, teacher training, and mentoring.” USU-Uintah Basin Executive Director James Taylor says Dr. Blackstock’s “passion for quality education and environmental education will be major assets for his work in Ecuador.” Dr. Blackstock will leave to begin his work in Ecuador this August.
