It’s no coincidence that the annual end of the year Food for Fines drive at Uintah Basin libraries happen over the holiday season. The drives literally stock the shelves of local food pantries in time to help provide holiday meals to local families in need. This year’s Food for Fines at the Uintah County Library is expanding what is allowed to donate.
Through December 31st
, patrons can bring in one can to pay off $1 dollar of fines on library accounts but also this year the library will be accepting unopened packages of toiletries. The library is asking that no expired or rusted cans be brought in because they will not be accepted. Also starting today, the Roosevelt Library will be opening their Food For Fines food drive also to run
through December 31st.
The Roosevelt Library will wave $1 dollar of fines per food item donated but this only counts towards late fees, not lost items. Donations gathered at both libraries will go to local food pantries.
