For those disappointed by the cancellation of the Burbot Bash, the DWR shared yesterday that there are still several opportunities to fish on Flaming Gorge this winter. The Mac Attack will be held this year February 20th through the 22nd. This annual fishing contest is geared toward helping control the population of small lake trout under 25 inches at Flaming Gorge to help improve the fishery. Another great option on Flaming Gorge this winter is the new Lake Trout Angler Harvest Program which is similar to the Mac Attack with a goal of reducing the numbers of small lake trout to improve the fishery. This new program opened January 1st and runs until April 30th. Awards will be given to the anglers who catch the most lake trout under 25 inches or tagged lake trout.
