Fishing is about to get a lot more popular with the announcement that an annual fishing contest has a major cash award attached. ‘Fishing with The Fox’ is hosted each year by the Division of Wildlife Resources and Evans Family Media’s 98.5 The Fox. Now in its 10th year, they have added a new prize, a fish that has been tagged worth $5,000 dollars! A random number has been selected between 001 and 600. If that fish has been caught and registered between now and July 31st the winner will receive the $5,000! Over $2000 dollars in prizes from Basin Sports will also be awarded at the final night of ‘Alive After 5’ on August 6th. The $5,000 dollar fish is sponsored by B&D RV and the event is made possible by Heaton Tire and Wheel, Moon Lake Resort, Red Line Racing and Marine, Stewart’s Marketplace, Uintah Power Equipment and Craig’s Pitstop. The DWR has tagged 600 rainbow trout that have been stocked 275 into Moon Lake, 275 into Matt Warner, and 50 into Moose Pond. Tags and registration tickets need to be delivered to one of the drop box locations at either Stewart’s Ace or the DWR Office. For more information, visit the event on Facebook and tune in to 98.5 The Fox. Keep in mind that Free Fishing Day is June 6th when no fishing license is required statewide.
