The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources announced in a press release that they will be applying changes to the fishing regulations starting in January of 2021. The changes include a reduction at Flaming Gorge of limits for largemouth and smallmouth bass. It has changed from 10 fish per day to 3 per day for the combined total of both species to make the black bass limit consistent between Utah and Wyoming. At Pelican Lake the limit for Bluegill was at zero to protect them during the rebuild and is now at 15 total, with only 5 over 7 inches long. Over at Red Fleet the Panfish, which includes the following species: bluegill, black crappie, yellow perch, and green sunfish, are now limited to 50 panfish per day with no more than 20 of them being black crappie. Panfish at Starvation Reservoir is limited to 20 fish per day. Other changes are species specific. Wiper fish that are found in Bullock, Cottonwood and Red Fleet reservoirs have been reduced from six fish to 3 per day statewide. Kokanee Salmon are now considered part of the statewide trout limit, with combined total of four fish per day for trout species, kokanee and grayling. Northern Pike has been increased to 20 pikes per day with only one over 36 inches statewide. There is currently invasive pike in the Green River, but there is a catch-and-kill regulation that will remain in effect.
