Little Jack Batty earned a claim to fame right away in his young life last week in Vernal. Final preparations were complete at the new Women’s Center of Ashley Regional Medical Center on May 21st and deliveries began the next day, just in time for Jack’s arrival! Baby boy Jack, son of Ashley and Steven Batty of Vernal, was the first baby born in the new facility on May 22nd at 8:15pm, measuring 21 inches long and weighing in at just over 8 pounds. The entire Batty family was presented with special gifts donated by the staff in the OB department. “We are so excited to be in our new area,” shares Megan Smith, Director of Women’s Services at Ashley Regional. “We have been anticipating this event for over a year and it is amazing to be in the new Women’s Center.” The new OB Department contains 5 ‘Labor, Delivery, and Recovery’ rooms, and 5 Post Partum rooms. There is also a new 8-bed nursery for newborns and a 5-bed Level II NICU for babies 32 weeks and above.
