A fire reported on Sunday within the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation is still burning. According to the

BIA Forestry and Wildland Fire – Uintah & Ouray Agency

, the fire was reported in the Avintaquin Canyon area on the upper ⅓ of a very steep slope. Responding units found the fire quickly near the end of Sams Canyon but had a tough time due to the steep rugged terrain and monitored the fire while an order for a helicopter was filled. On Tuesday, the now named North Face Fire was assigned a wildland fire helicopter with a crew and the crew began working the fire with water and buckets dipping from a portable tank. Originally the fire was estimated at three acres and it is currently estimated at 25 acres primarily in Douglas Fir trees. No structures are currently threatened and no injuries have been reported, shares the Uintah & Ouray Agency. They are committed to continue fighting the fire with the helicopter until safe enough to put firefighters on the ground.
