Final Phase Proposed For Red Wash Road Project

The Uintah Transportation Special Service District is preparing for the next stage of the Red Wash Road project. In a presentation to the Uintah County Commissioners, District Director Cheryl Meier reported that there is about 4.4 miles of the 12.6 mile stretch of that road that still needs repaired and is getting worse. Several project phases have been completed on that stretch of road but it was never complete due to the expense. Meier proposed to the Commission that they turn to the Community Impact Board for funds toward the $8.5 million dollars needed. She explained that a CIB application will have an applicant cash amount which she suggested come from the Transportation District budget and County B road funds. Meier said that the completion of the project will help decrease the large trucks on Highway 40.  The Commission tabled the item in order to research the county funds. The item will tentatively be on the Commission meeting agenda at the end of the month and the hope is that the Transportation District will go before the Community Impact Board in April.
