A fatal semi crash took place in Duchesne County last week. According to Utah Highway Patrol, on June 19 at approximately 5pm, a 1979 Kenworth semitruck hauling a load of hay was traveling west on SR-87 at approximately 12000 West. The semi approached a bend on the roadway and ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on its hood. One occupant was able to get out but another was trapped inside the cab of the truck. The truck burst into flames. The trapped occupant was killed while the other was transported to the Uintah Basin Medical Center and then flown to the U of U burn unit. The roadway was closed for a time while the scene was investigated. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
