A tragic fatal crash that took place early
Monday morning
on Highway 40 was followed by two people fleeing the scene and eventually being arrested. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a 2005 Chrysler Sebring was traveling westbound on Highway 40 about 15 miles west of Vernal
around 5:30am
when, for an unknown reason, the driver of the Sebring crossed over the center median nearly perpendicular to the roadway and was struck by a 2001 GMC Denali that was traveling eastbound. “The driver of the Sebring, Joshua Beasley, age 30, from Vernal, died on impact,” shares UHP. “The two male occupants of the Denali fled the scene of the crash on foot. They were tracked down and apprehended by the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office and Vernal Police Department. One of the occupants of the Denali has a $25,000 dollar warrant.” The pair was found about one mile from the crash. After being evaluated by medical personnel, both were booked into the Uintah County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of an injury/fatal crash.
