Expect More Record Setting Heat

School may have started but the heat of summer isn’t going anywhere right away. Officials say to expect more record-setting heat, with highs 10 to 15 degrees above normal across eastern Utah and western Colorado again today. “The rest of the region, however, will have mostly clear skies, making it feel even hotter under the intense sunshine. Avoid being out during the hottest portion of the day, generally 10 AM to 4 PM, if possible. If you must go out, wear light colored clothes, drink plenty of water, and take breaks in the shade or indoors,” shares the announcement. “Near record heat will continue through the end of the week. As monsoonal moisture returns this weekend, look for widespread showers and thunderstorms, along with much cooler temperatures.” Of course it could be worse. The hot temperatures are even hotter in southern Utah with some areas issued an Extreme Heat Watch with hot temperatures of up to 108 degrees and nighttime lows in the 80s.
