The Department of Workforce Services has updated employment data after a delay. According to the new data, Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for September 2025 increased an estimated 1.5% across 12 months, adding a cumulative 26,700 jobs to the state economy since September 2024, bringing Utah’s job count to 1,783,000. In Daggett County, employment reached 529 which is up from 511 one year prior. Duchesne County employment reached 9,399 which is up from 9,009 one year prior. And Uintah County employment reached 16,322 which is up from 15,483 one year prior. “The September labor market numbers were delayed due to the federal government shutdown,” shares Ben Crabb, chief economist with the Utah Department of Workforce Services. “The state’s labor market shows resilience, maintaining job creation even as a general economic cooling has nudged the unemployment rate up by one-tenth of a percentage point. October’s numbers will be unavailable due to the shutdown.” A report on unemployment numbers will also be shared this week.
