Certified destruction of data on computers and devices is not easy to come by but a window of opportunity is now open. A free electronics recycling event hosted by the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and TriCounty Health Department will run through the month of January. All items recycled will include certified destruction of all data, explains Chamber Director Joel Brown. Accepted items include batteries, computers, laptops, network devices, office machines, printers, and telephones among many other devices. In year’s past the list excluded cathode ray tube televisions and computer monitors due to additional costs. This year, however, tube televisions and monitors will be accepted, explains Brown, because the recycling company has dropped the extra fee. Items can be dropped off during business hours at either the Vernal Chamber Office or either TriCounty Health location.
