The Department of Workforce Services reports the nonfarm payroll employment for November increased by 3.6 percent over the last 2 years and the state’s economy added 57,900 jobs to the state’s economy. The November employment by county registered at approximately 421 employed in Daggett County, 8,332 in Duchesne County, and 12,835 in Uintah County. The state unemployment rate ticked down yet again from 2.2 to 2.1 percent from October to November and the national unemployment rate registered at 4.2 percent. “While the supply of available labor keeps shrinking, the Utah economy continues to grow,” shares DWS Chief Economist Mark Knold. “These seem like contradictory forces, yet the Utah economy continues to expand. Utah leads the nation in job growth. Our economy cannot grow like this unless it is finding the labor it needs. So far that challenge is being met.” Unemployment rates by county will be released this week.
