An economic snapshot from the Utah Department of Workforce Services has positive things to say about the local economy. Uintah County itself gained 227 jobs on a year-to date basis as of the second quarter of 2017 with a 19 percent increase in oil and gas jobs which DWS notes as a very encouraging sign for an oil dependant county. “As of the second quarter of 2017, Uintah County’s labor market seems to be beyond stabilization and poised for sustained growth,” shares the report. “Construction permitting has improved markedly. There have been substantial gains in oil and gas employment and mining-related taxable sales business investment expenditures have increased impressively.” Duchesne County also showed gains with 313 jobs added in the second quarter. DWS notes that in Duchesne County “every economic indicator registered positive in response to an improvement in oil prices.”
