DWR: Waterfowl Hunting Season Has Arrived

by | Sep 18, 2025 | News | 0 comments

Waterfowl hunting season is finally here and the Division of Wildlife Resources has some reminders for those ready to get out hunting. With the exception of tundra swans, the rest of the waterfowl hunts in Utah are open to anyone with a hunting or combination license. You are, however, also required to have a Harvest Information Program (HIP) number to hunt any waterfowl or migratory game bird species which can be found on dwrapps.utah.gov. “Waterfowl numbers usually peak in mid-September in Utah — with the dabblers arriving first — and the divers usually migrate through a bit later in October,” shares Migratory Game Birds Coordinator Jason Jones. “Utah waterfowl hunters may experience fewer birds coming through Utah this hunting season, compared to the last 10 years.” Learn more about this season’s hunts at wildlife.utah.gov.
