Officers eventually cornered and arrested a DUI driver in Uintah County that had initially been called in after running into a fence and then leaving the scene. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers received a call of a hit and run by a tan Chevrolet Suburban. Officers located the vehicle traveling in the area of 1500 South and 500 East and a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle briefly came to a stop before speeding off westbound through a residential area, swerving on the road, and appearing to intentionally try to crash. The vehicle turned onto a dead end road and then stopped. The driver, 21-year-old Kaleb James Evans-Cook, was called out of the vehicle and was secured into handcuffs. The strong odor of alcohol was detected and an open container of alcohol was located in the center console of the vehicle. A records check revealed that Kaleb’s license was revoked for a previous alcohol offense and that he should have an ignition interlock device as an alcohol restricted driver. Kaleb James Evans-Cook was arrested on DUI with 2 prior DUI convictions within the last 10 years. He is also facing charges of Failing to Stop at Command of Police and Reckless Driving.
