Duchesne Roosevelt Ranger District Campground Status

The Duchesne Roosevelt Ranger District provided a campground status update in time for holiday weekend planning: All campgrounds in the Duchesne/Roosevelt Ranger District are open now except Avintaquin and Pole Creek that usually opens around mid-June. Moon Lake and Moon Lake group gates will be open at 8 am Friday morning. The Rock Creek, Brown Duck and Lake Fork trails are all closed due to safety concerns as a result of the East Fork Fire. The gate to Grand View trailhead is open to Splash Dam and then closed to vehicles [but] people can continue on foot or horseback. There is still too much snow to open that gate. Also…There are no reservations of camping spots. Someone actually has to be occupying the [camping] spot in the first-come-first-served campgrounds. A payment can not be used to reserve a spot for a future date.
