Duchesne County Water Needs And Conservation

Duchesne County has work to do when it comes to water needs into the future and county leaders want to see new water projects for the Uintah Basin. Duchesne County Commissioner Greg Miles spoke on this topic in a recent interview with Evans Family Media. Miles said leaders are excited about the pump storage project in Uintah County and they are working to develop more storage in Duchesne County, most immediately is the possibility of several small storage facilities in Duchesne County. Miles also emphasized that Duchesne County as a whole needs to get better about conserving water and pointed out that local industry is setting a good example. “I want to tip my hat to those that conserve, especially in the oil field,” says Miles. “Oil companies have been very resourceful. [Water] reuse has become one of their top priorities.” Miles invites all to look for ways to conserve water. “We’ve got to look for more ways to conserve water in order to make sure there is an adequate supply to grow into the future,” he says.
