The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release sharing that they are investigating another fatal accident, the second in a week, that occurred in rural Duchesne County. On Tuesday, August 10th, at about 8:40pm, deputies were dispatched to a 2 vehicle accident near the Ravola Dugway in Arcadia. 31-year-old Jens Ryan LaRose was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 truck with a welding bed southbound on 12000 West when a second truck, a 2012 Chevrolet half-ton, traveling west on 6000 South, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the driver’s side of LaRose’s Ram truck. The impact caused both vehicles to roll off the roadway and both vehicles caught fire. By the time deputies arrived on scene both vehicles were fully engulfed by fire. Witnesses were able to pull LaRose’s body from his vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign fled the scene, but was later interviewed by police and taken to a local hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident. The cause of the crash and source of the fire are still under investigation and charges against the driver who fled the scene are pending.
