Man Facing 1st Degree Felony Rape Charge In Duchesne County

A man has been charged with 1st Degree Felony Rape in Duchesne County for an incident that allegedly took place this week. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police received a Child Abuse and Neglect Report involving an allegation of sexual abuse of a child. The report alleged that John Smith, birthdate of 9/16/1994, had been observed in sexual activity with a 14-year-old female. Both from Louisiana, Smith and a coworker were temporarily staying in Roosevelt for work. The coworker observed the alleged sexual act after looking through the curtains of an open window of a hotel room. Following police interviews and investigation, 31-year-old John Smith was arrested and is charged with 1st Degree Felony Rape.
