A Duchesne County man is being held with no bail in Duchesne County Jail after a scary incident on April 17th. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault with the use of a weapon. The victims reported that 28-year-old David John Dudleston fired upon them as they moved a vehicle in front of his property. Dudleston fired upwards of 15 rounds from the garage area of the property with what was believed to be an AR-15. One of the victims reported hearing bullets whiz past his head all while Dudleston was yelling at them. The victim also reported that Dudleston had gone through his RV which was on the road and destroyed compartments and stole items from it. While investigating at the property, officers located 16 spent casings near the garage as reported. Dudleston refused to speak with the officers and would not come out of his home and it was decided they would come back at another time. Later that same day, the victim reported that Dudleston had begun sending threatening messages and because of the immediate danger posed, a search warrant was obtained and officers went to the property and Dudleston was arrested. He told officers that he believed the victim was stealing from him which was why he took things from the RV but later asked if he could just give the items back to the victim. He then told officers that when the man was leaving he yelled at Dudleston that he better not fall asleep so he walked over to the garage and lit off a firework. When asked why there were newly spent .223 casings near the garage, Dudleston said he would never use a gun against someone and then later said he and the victim were both shooting an AR-15 from that spot. The text messages sent made threats of violence, including that he would kill the man by beating him to death with a pan. Dudleston faces 5 new felony charges, including Aggravated Assault, Felony Discharge of a Firearm, and 3 counts of Use of a Firearm by a Restricted Person, among others.
