A local library has received some much deserved recognition. During the Utah Public Library Director’s Summit held in Park City last week, the Duchesne County Library was recognized for ‘Exemplary Service During The COVID-19 Pandemic’ and no, this wasn’t an award handed out lightly. So what set them apart? Well the Utah Library Division collected information on how library’s adapted their collections, technology services, programming, outreach, and safety measures in response to the pandemic, particularly during 2020. They also considered how the staff persevered through the ongoing changes. Duchesne County Library System Director Daniel Machley explains that state staff scored the information and two categories of awards were given: Impactful and Exemplary. In the entire state, about 10 libraries were recognized as ‘Impactful’ while 5 were recognized with the higher ‘Exemplary’ designation, one of which was the Duchesne County Library. Congratulations and thank you to all involved with both branches of the Duchesne County Library System on representing the Basin so well!
