Duchesne County Data Center Public Hearing Taking Place Tomorrow

A public hearing is happening tomorrow concerning a proposed data center in Duchesne County. The Duchesne County Community Development Department issued a public hearing notice that they will meet on April 2nd at the Duchesne County Centennial Event Center to conduct a public hearing on a request by Nine Mile Data LLC, for a conditional use permit to build and operate a data center development for commercial use in the South Myton Bench area. Conversation surrounding proposed data centers include a variety of voices online. State Senate District 20 candidate Annette McRae has been vocal in urging officials to evaluate the proposed Nine Mile development as a single, integrated system of a data center, its power generation, and associated water reuse infrastructure, rather than separate projects. “This is not three projects — it’s one system and it only works if it’s built that way from the start,” says McRae. For example, “a permit doesn’t create water — infrastructure does. If reuse isn’t built in from the beginning, you increase long-term pressure on freshwater resources.” McRae’s further recommendations on this topic can be found on her Linked In profile. Tomorrow’s public hearing on the request by Nine Mile Data LLC to build a data center is happening at the Duchesne County Centennial Event Center at 5:00pm.
