A Duchesne County Sheriff’s Captain has been recognized for his role in the creation and implementation of the statewide correctional standards. “Over the past two years, Captain Jeremy Curry has been working with the Utah Department of Corrections, the State of Utah and the Utah Sheriffs Association creating unified jail standards for all facilities housing offenders,” shares Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. “Yesterday, Jeremy was the recipient of a Public Service Award given by the Department of Corrections for his contribution to the team in developing these standards. The award reads as follows, which explains what the Correctional Standards are designed to accomplish: ‘For the first time in state history, the Utah Department of Corrections, the State of Utah and the Utah Sheriffs Association took on the task of creating Correctional Standards for all prisons, community correctional centers and jails.  The standards were designed to create consistent policies, procedures and operations for all facilities housing offenders.  They also allowed transparency to the public.  The standards are set to go into effect in the Fiscal Year 2020, pending final approval. Jeremy Curry was a part of Team B, which took the standards and reviewed them for applicability and practicability.  Without the team’s efforts, progress in the statewide implementation of the standards would not have been possible.’ Congratulations, Captain Jeremy Curry for receiving this award.” The Sheriff’s Office shared their thanks for Curry’s service to their office and throughout the entire state of Utah.
