Citizens of unincorporated areas of Duchesne County are now allowed to purchase federally-backed flood insurance, an option which was previously only available to citizens of Duchesne City and Myton City. According to a news release from FEMA and the Duchesne County Commissioners, Duchesne County joined over 21,000 communities nationwide to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program in order to reduce flood losses in the County. The program is only available in designated flood hazard areas mapped within the County.
