The Duchesne Branch Library has received a grant through the John Henry Eldred Jr. Foundation. Duchesne Branch Library Manager Lori Ann Potter shares that the Rural Public Library Fund was created to help grow children’s circulation and sustain programming in low-income, rural libraries across the United States. The Duchesne Branch “is using the grant money to cover the cost of read-along print books that have built-in audio players,” shares Potter. “Research has shown that this type of book can improve reading results. When kids see and hear vocabulary at the same time, they learn to match oral sounds with written words…Additionally, read-alongs enable individuals to enjoy books regardless of their current reading proficiency.” The Duchesne County Library System is grateful to the John Henry Eldred Jr. Foundation for helping bring this resource to the community.
