Drop, Cover, and Hold On for Thursday’s Great Utah ShakeOut

by | Apr 18, 2018 | News | 0 comments

Earthquake drills aren’t just for elementary schools. Every Utahn is urged to participate in the Great Utah ShakeOut this Thursday. “While the Uintah Basin is not at a great risk for earthquake activity, there are many parts of Utah that are,” explains Uintah County Emergency Management Director Tal Ehlers. “We have the ShakeOut every year to remind people what they can do to best keep themselves safe and protected during an earthquake. While we’re not at a great risk in the Uintah Basin, you never know where you may be when an earthquake may occur so it is important to know what to do.” The event is actually held worldwide as a time for people to practice the Drop, Cover, and Hold On exercise. . Utahns are asked to register if they plan to participate to keep track of how many total Utahns participated in the event.
