The draft for the Duchesne County Resource Management Plan is available to view. The plan is a major part of the county’s general plan update, shares Duchesne County Community Development Director Mike Hyde, and must be completed to comply with Utah law. The plan itself details objectives and policies for managing federal lands in Duchesne County, based on the best available science. “Having a resource management plan for federal lands will enable the County to participate more effectively as a partner with federal agencies as they make plans and consider the appropriate uses of lands within their jurisdiction,” explains Hyde. “The County plan will also be important should the federal government elect to transfer jurisdiction of some of its land to the State of Utah.” The draft is available for review at

. Copies can also be reviewed at the County libraries in Roosevelt and Duchesne.
