The holiday season has most hearts full of love and service but that doesn’t mean there aren’t grinches lurking about. “Keep your homes and vehicles locked at all times,” shares Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell. “Don’t leave valuables in plain view at your homes or in your vehicles. They are an invitation for thieves and an easy opportunity for them as well. If possible, retrieve your daily mail soon after it is delivered to your mailbox, and if you are expecting a package do the same. If you are expecting a package and will not have the opportunity to retrieve it from your porch or mailbox, make prior arrangements for a neighbor or family member to retrieve it soon after delivery.” You can also give specific instructions on where to deliver the package, like to the side or back of the house where it is out of sight from the road. Report any suspicious activity by calling Central Dispatch at 435-789-4222.
