Dinosaur National Monument Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson presented recently at the Vernal Chamber luncheon, providing interesting highlights about the Monument. The numbers in 2021 show 359,560 people visited the Dinosaur National Park and in 2020, during COVID, the visitor numbers increased 36% over the previous year with people looking for places to vacation outdoors. There are many opportunities to explore the park with a variety of programs. The Ranger programs start on Memorial Day. The Visitor Center in Jensen has improved accessibility to the new interpretive exhibits which are designed to be more kid friendly. Improved directional signs throughout the park make accessibility more available to visitors. The park received Dark Sky recognition in 2019 and with 2/3rds of the world’s population living where they can not see stars, the park’s Dark Sky programs provide an amazing and rare opportunity to stargaze.
