It was a cold and miserable search on foot but officers and a K9 named Messi were able to track down and apprehend two wanted individuals. According to Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies were notified at 5am that a dark blue 2010 F150 had failed to stop when Craig Police attempted to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle instead headed south through Meeker and was pursued until it came to a stop at Mile Marker 9 on Highway 13. The driver and one passenger fled on foot into the brush and trees while a second passenger was detained. “With the help of Garfield County Sheriff’s Deputies and Garfield County K9 Messi, tracking began for the two parties that fled on foot,” shares Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office. “After approximately one hour of tracking in wet, muddy and extremely cold weather the two parties that fled were located by K9 Messi and were detained by Deputies without incident. The vehicle was listed as stolen out of Mesa County and one occupant of the stolen vehicle was a missing juvenile out of Mesa County.”
