Delays Expected in Indian Canyon During UDOT Resurfacing

Drivers can expect delays when traveling through Indian Canyon. UDOT began a resurfacing project of an 11-mile section of U.S. 191 on Monday, April 30th. The work has begun at the junction of U.S. 6 and 191 and will run to Jones Hollow at approximately milepost 271. According to UDOT, the process being used on this project is called cold-in-place recycling or CIR that allows workers to reuse the existing asphalt surface by grinding off a specific depth of the pavement, mixing the asphalt with a recycling agent, and repaving the road with the reprocessed asphalt. A new layer of asphalt is then placed on the top. Travel delays can be expected with crews closing one lane of traffic between 6am and 9pm Monday through Friday. The speed limit will also be reduced. Construction is expected to last through mid-August. For more information about the project, call 1-877-495-4240.
