A man seriously injured in Daggett County while mountain biking was transported to the hospital thanks to some expert help. According to the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office, Dispatch received a call where it was reported that two men were mountain biking in the area just north of Skull Creek Campground when one of the men fell from his bike and could not get up. The ambulance was called to respond and due to the remote location, Search and Rescue was dispatched to respond and assist. A command location was set up at the Red Canyon Lodge and teams were sent in to locate and recover the injured man. Two side-by-sides and 11 responders went into the location, including one EMT to aid in the packaging and transportation. A helicopter from Rock Springs was called to respond. The chopper landed about a quarter of a mile from the victim. The victim was immobilized and moved by hand to the helicopter where he was transferred into the aircraft and transported to the hospital. All respondents returned to the command location and were released after being accounted for.
