Daggett County has declared a local state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a Daggett County press release, Daggett County Commission Chairman Randy Asay signed the proclamation on Thursday, March 19th, and the proclamation will expire in 30 days if it is not ratified by the Daggett County Commission. “We are a small county and our resources are extremely limited.” shared Asay. “It wouldn’t take much for those resources to be depleted. By declaring a local emergency right now, we are able to tap into additional resources that can help us respond more effectively if coronavirus begins to spread in our area.” So far there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Daggett County but officials are staying in close contact with TriCounty Health Department. In fact, the proclamation was drafted with input from TriCounty Health Department.
