Daggett County Centennial Celebrations to Kick Off

It’s been an amazing 100 years and Daggett County plans to celebrate all year long! On July 31st, 1917, a vote was taken to approve the formation of Daggett County. The state legislature made the decision to separate the northern part of Uintah County into its own county and Manila was named as the county seat. Daggett County was officially the last of the Utah’s counties to be organized. The official formation of Daggett County took place in 1918 but the County announced this week that their Centennial celebrations will begin this month and run into 2018. The kickoff celebration will be held at the Daggett County Courthouse on Saturday, March 25th at 6:00pm. All are welcome to attend and learn about the history of Daggett County with author Brock Cheney presenting on what life was like a hundred years ago. There is also an art contest underway for high school students to design a logo to be used throughout the Centennial celebrations.
